01 — Getting Started

Getting started.

Does my child need experience to start?+

No experience needed. Pay-as-You-Go Workouts are the lowest-commitment entry point — single session, no contract. The Rising Stars League is built for first-time players in 2nd–4th grade. Spring Session is great for kids who've played any organized basketball before.

What age groups do you serve?+

Rising Stars: 2nd–4th grade. Skills clinics: ages 8–14. Spring Session and Pay-as-You-Go: ages 9–17. The full age range across our programs is roughly 7–17.

Can I observe a practice before registering?+

Yes — and we encourage it. The easiest way is to drop in for a Pay-as-You-Go Workout, or come watch a Saturday tournament. Email us to find a session near you.

My athlete plays for another program. Can they still join TPB?+

Yes. We're not affiliated with any high school or other club, so multi-program athletes are welcome. Many of our players also play school basketball or other AAU programs.

02 — Programs

Programs.

What's the difference between Spring Session and Pay-as-You-Go?+

Spring Session is our flagship 8-week structured season — weekly practices plus 2–3 tournaments per month per team. Pay-as-You-Go is a single-session drop-in for athletes who want to try a workout or play in one tournament without committing to a full season.

What is the Rising Stars League?+

Rising Stars is the perfect first basketball league for 2nd–4th graders in Livermore. Each session: 35 min skills training (dribbling, passing, shooting, defense) followed by ~45 min of organized games. Players get a reversible league jersey.

03 — Schedule & Locations

Schedule & locations.

How does the season schedule work?+

Our Spring Session runs 8 weeks. Each team practices weekly and plays 2–3 tournaments per month, depending on age group. Specific times go out before each session.

Where will my child practice?+

Across the Tri-Valley — Pleasanton, Dublin, Livermore, and San Ramon. Exact gym for each program is confirmed at registration and posted on our live schedule. Full locations page →

Where do tournaments happen?+

Local tournaments are typically at Tri-Valley sites. Travel-team tournaments can be elsewhere in the Bay Area or beyond. Schedules are sent in advance and posted on our live calendar.

What if my athlete misses a practice?+

Email us — we offer makeup sessions where possible. Tell us in advance if you know about a conflict (school events, family travel, etc.) and we'll work around it.

04 — Cost & Refunds

Cost & refunds.

Do you offer scholarships or financial aid?+

Yes — through the Be More Foundation we offer need-based scholarships and flexible payment plans. No family is turned away for financial reasons. Email us directly — every conversation is fully confidential.

What does registration include?+

Practices, games (for season programs), coach feedback, the parent communication portal, and end-of-season showcase. Sibling and multi-program discounts auto-apply at checkout.

Refund policy?+

Full refunds within 7 days of registration. After that, we offer prorated credits and makeup sessions. Email us to start the process.

Can I pay with anything other than a credit card?+

SportsEngine accepts cards and ACH bank transfer. For cash or check arrangements (or anything custom), email us before registering.

05 — Coaches

Coaches.

How are coaches selected?+

Multi-step interview, background check, and our internal coaching standards training. New coaches are mentored for a full season before leading independently. We hire fewer coaches than we'd like to — on purpose.

Will my child have the same coach all season?+

Yes — your athlete is assigned a head coach for the duration of the session. They'll also see other staff in scrimmages and tournaments.

Do you have coaches for girls' teams?+

Yes — we coach girls and boys across every program. Email us if you have a specific question about your daughter's group or the right starting program.

What if my child doesn't connect with their coach?+

Let us know — always. We'd rather adjust than have a kid quit the sport. We work to fix it quickly — different group, different night, or a private session to rebuild confidence.

06 — Gear & Uniforms

Gear & uniforms.

Do you provide jerseys?+

Yes. Rising Stars League players get a reversible league jersey. Spring Session players receive a TPB jersey at the start of the season. Pay-as-You-Go participants wear their own gear.

Where do I buy TPB hoodies, shorts, and other gear?+

Our official team shop is on BSN Sports — jerseys, shooting shirts, hoodies, shorts, bags, hats, and more. Ships nationwide. Shop the team store →

What should my child wear to practice?+

Athletic shoes (basketball shoes preferred but not required), shorts, t-shirt or shooting shirt, and a water bottle. That's it. We provide the basketballs.
